Maikaya Development Foundation a high impact and fastest growing indigenous NGO in sub-Saharan Africa yesterday empowered hundreds of women with cash to boost their businesses.
These vulnerable women who are mostly micro scale business owners with almost zero allocation in terms of capital are known to feed from hand to mouth. They are the kunu sellers, akara sellers, okpa sellers, and road side or hawker food sellers. We are aware that it will be very difficult for them to cope in these trying times. And so we carefully identified and selected beneficiaries for this capital boost.
As part of Maikaya Development Foundation objectives, empowering women with special needs is part of our strategy to reduce to the barest minimum, poverty in Africa. The imperative to urgently empower these women at this time is premised on our survey that indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted circulation of cash in the system, as such a possible fatality on the economy. Hence, the requisite action by our team to provide financial boost to the demography that will be mostly affected.
